Matthew (Matt) Newby was born in Mesa Arizona and attended Apache Junction High School class of 98. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force as an F-16 Crew Chief from 1999 to 2001. After he received a medical discharge he returned to Apache Junction Arizona where he met his wife Ashley and they got married in 2003. He served as a Correctional Officer with the Arizona Department of Corrections from 2007 to 2019. Matt and Ashley had a very long hard battle of infertility and they finally had their daughter Maddison in 2016. His call to ministry began when he was a young boy, and through his teenage years he started down that road by serving in the youth group worship band but like a lot of people as he got older he drifted away from church and from the Lord. In March of 2019 he lost his Father to cancer, and during this time he and his wife both felt God doing something in their lives and made the decision to follow what God was laying on their hearts. They made the move to Bull Shoals, Arkansas, to be closer to Matt’s Mom, which gave them the opportunity to make a new start. After arriving in Bull Shoals they found themselves back in church. He and his wife felt God calling them to teach just like God had called them to do as children. Since back in Church he and his wife have grown leaps and bounds, he completed the Mantle River School of Leadership and Ministry and became the Youth Leader. His wife Ashley is part of the Children’s Ministry at Emmanuel Church. His Pastor Mr. Kyle Sexton was instrumental in his involvement in Cross Trail Outfitters introducing him to the organization, and after their conversation about CTO, Matt knew it was the perfect fit. With his passion for the youth, his church, his community, and his absolute love for hunting and fishing, he knew this was the calling that God had for him. For years he struggled with what he was suppose to do for the Kingdom and with the full support of Pastor Kyle Sexton and the entire Emmanuel Church Body, he knows Cross Trail Outfitters is his call!
